Did you know that there are many Broadway shows that feature orphans as their main characters?
P'zazz Children's Choir and Dynamix Teen Vocal Sensations performed songs of love and desperation,
being lost and being found in "Broadway's Orphans" at the Broomfield Auditorium
Broadway's Orphans included songs from the Broadway shows Annie, Oliver, The Wizard of Oz,
Les Miserables and Wicked along with songs from the films Aladdin and Tarzan. Additional songs
by Michael Jackson, Avril LaVigne and the Jonas Brothers filled out a fun, yet moving, evening.
Special guest solo artists included Jeanette Prentice, Brian Walker, Kim Dawson,
Erik Bryan and Mitch Samu.
Jeannie Card taught in the Boulder Schools for 23 years and is the current
co-director of P'zazz Children's Choir and Dynamix Teen Vocal Sensations.
Both groups have sung extensively in the Boulder-Denver area. Mrs. Card's greatest
rewards and fun come from teaching children how to sing and perform with high energy and expression!
Director/Producer Barry Brown holds the position of musical director of the 17th Avenue ll-Stars.

.
So many Broadway Shows feature the stories of orphans. From Annie to Quasimodo - all these stories are about children with no mother or father to watch over and guide them. We naturally care more for a character who has to work harder than everyone else to achieve anything. There are times when we feel overwhelmed by life's challenges. That's why we especially like to see stories where an orphan (an obvious challenge) overcomes, against great odds.
BUT HAVE YOU CONSIDERED COLORADO'S (OUR) REAL ORPHANS?
In 2005, 875 children waited to find "forever families." today in 2010: 550 are still waiting.
We hope that our offering of "Broadway's Orphans" can help bring awareness and make a difference for those at-risk kids who are still waiting. It was once said, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

Dynamix (teen vocal ensemble) performed at Carnegie Hall with 150 other high school singers on Monday, April 13, 2009 at 8 p.m. in New York City! Dynamix and their director, Jeannie Card were extremely excited about this trip. Not only is the opportunity to sing in Carnegie Hall a once-in-a life-time experience, but they also saw the sights of New York and attended the musical, Chicago!
In March of 2008, Jeannie Card received an invitation from Kirby
Shaw, the internationally known composer and arranger of vocal
jazz and gospel to bring her group, Dynamix to join 6 other choirs
for an evening of Kirby's musical arrangements. The songs performed
included I've Got the Music in Me. Route 66, Operator, Battle
Hymn of the Republic, Joshua, Bridge Over Troubled Water and St.
Louis Blues. So after much deliberation and fund-raising, they
were all set to go! They had four days in New York to sight-see,
rehearse (12 hours!) and hang out in Times Square.
Dynamix would like to thank all the people who supported their
fundraisers for this fabulous trip! They hope you enjoyed your
almost free lunches (from Lunch Coupons), your gorgeous Christmas
Wreaths and your delicious pancakes courtesy of AppleBees in Westminster!
